looking intently into her bewitching face he replied, "yes, pray at once, and ask the lord to let me be his son-in-law."
美国 内 战 ， 志 愿 当 护 士 的 人 不 少 。 一 位 美 丽 的 南 方 女 郎 天 天 都 履 行 她 爱 的 使 命 ， 有 一次 ， 问 一 个 重 伤 的 年 轻 士 兵 要 不 要 她 效 劳 。 那 士 兵 说 ： 「 你 的 好 意 ， 我 非 常 感 激 ，但 太 迟 了 ， 你 不 能 为 我 做 甚 么 了 。 我 已 经 命 在 朝 夕 。 」
「 我 可 以 为 你 祈 祷 吗 ？ 我 希 望 我 可 以 说 是 上 帝 一 名 女 儿 ， 我 要 请 上 帝 给 你 援 手 。 」
那 士 兵 凝 望 她 迷 人 的 面 孔 ， 回 答 说 ： 「 好 ， 马 上 祈 祷 吧 。 烦 你 求 上 帝 许 我 做 他 女 婿 。 」
