【 解 说 】 favour 一 般 指 「 恩 惠 」 或 「 好 感 」 ， 例 如 he once did me a favour 是 「 他 曾 经 助 我 一 臂 」 ， he found favour with his boss 是 「 他 赢 得 上 司 好 感 」 。 但 是 ， 旧 式 英 文 常 用 复 数 形 式 的 favours 指 女 性 为 人 荐 枕 这 种 「 恩 惠 」 ， 例 如 ： （ 1 ） she is rather free with her favours （ 她 颇 为 滥 交 ） 。 （ 2 ） mary granted him her favours （ 玛 丽 和 他 共 赴 巫 山 ） 。
to one's cost 是 惯 用 语 ， 指 「 遭 受 损 失 」 或 「 经 过 痛 苦 教 训 」 ， 例 如 ： he learned to his cost that it did not pay to point out his superior's mistakes （ 他 受 过 痛 苦 教 训 ， 知 道 指 出 上 司 的 错 误 没 有 好 处 ） 。
infatuate 是 「 迷 恋 」 ， 一 般 用 被 动 语 态 ， 例 如 ： she was infatuated with the film star （ 她 迷 恋 那 电 影 明 星 ） 。
