【解说】lurch是指走路摇摇晃晃，或船只等突然倾斜，但leave someone in the lurch 却 是 「 弃 人 于 危 难 之 中 不 加 援 手 」 的 意 思 。 这 成 语 的 lurch 和 解 作「 摇 晃 」 等 的 lurch 其 实 不 同 ， 是 法 文 lourche 的 变 体 。 lourche 是 一 种 弈 棋 游 戏， 对 弈 的 一 方 败 局 难 回 ， 就 叫 做 in the lurch 。 从 前 ， give someone the lurch 、 have someone on the lurch 都 有 「 击 败 某 人 」 的 意 思 ， 但 这 两 句 成 语 今 天 已 经不 用 ， 至 今 通 用 的 只 有 leave someone in the lurch ， 例 如 ： he is not one to leave a friend in the lurch （ 他 不 是 见 朋 友 有 难 而 袖 手 旁 观 的 那 种 人 ） 。
