when the atomic bomb codenamed"little boy" was dropped on hiroshima on 6 august 1945, at least 10 american fliers were being held as war prisoners in the city. only three of them survived the explosion.
normand brissette and ralph neal dived into a cesspool, where they remained nose deep in the muck until the flames died down. as soon as they emerged, they were recaptured by their guards. they suffered servere radiation burns and survived in torment for 13 days. they died on 19 august.
the third american who survived the explosion died as a scapegoat for the bombing. he was tied to what was left of the aioi bridge

* with a sign hanging from him that said:"beat this american soldier before you pass."
一九四五年八月六日,代号「小男孩」的原子弹落在广岛上,当时城内关着至少十个原任美国飞行员的战俘,只有三个没有在爆炸中死亡。
诺曼德.布里塞和拉尔夫.尼尔跳进化粪池里,躲在深及鼻子的粪便之中,直到火焰熄灭才走出来,马上又被守 卫抓住。他们遭辐射严重灼伤,熬了十三天,八月十九日去世。
第三个没被炸死的美国人,则做了轰炸的代罪羔羊而死。他被缚在残缺不全的相生桥上,身上挂着告示说:「不揍这个美国士兵,不要在这里走过。」
